Cinnamon bark oil - Warm, spicy and invigorating!

Cinnamon bark oil, botanical name cinnamomum zeylanicum, is used by aromatherapists to treat a range of physical complaints and emotional disorders.  Cinnamon oil has been used throughout history for both healing and spiritual purposes, in a number of cultures around the world.  For example, included in the holy anointing oil of Exodus 30:23 were 250 shekels of "sweet cinnamon".  Pure essential oil made from cinnamon bark has a rich and spicy fragrance.  It is commonly used in special prepared Christmas oil blends with other warming aromatherapy oils, such as nutmeg, orange and clove oil.

Cinnamon bark oil is a natural analgesic and can be used to relieve the pain of various complaints, including rheumatism.  This aromatic oil also has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anti-spasmodic properties.  Aromatherapists use cinnamon to ease constipation, flatulence and scabies.  Cinnamon can be good for low blood pressure.  It is also an emmenagogue, used in aromatherpy to induce and regulate menstruation.  This particular plant essence should not be used in pregnancy and can cause irritation to sensitive skin.

In addition to having therapeutic benefits for several physical symptoms, cinnamon bark essential oil can have beneficial psychological effects when vaporized in an aromatherapy diffuser.  It releases a stimulating and invigorating aroma.  Aromatherapists use this oil in emotional healing to induce feelings of confidence and motivation, and to increase mental energy and strength.  It can be purchased from stores selling organic essential oils and aromatherapy supplies online.
