Essential oil blends - Pure and natural recipes to promote well being!

Essential oil blends have been used throughout history, both to heal physical and emotional disorders and in spiritual practices.  Blends of aromatherapy oils continue to be used in modern times, both as natural remedies in the home and in religious ceremonies.  For instance, at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, she was anointed with a traditional blend of oils.  This anointing mixture contained expensive jasmine, neroli and rose oil, among other aromatic plant oils.

There are loads of books of aromatherapy recipes that can be blended in the home.  Essential oil blends can be made up to induce feelings of psychological well being.  A few drops added to a candle or aromatherapy diffuser can help aid relaxation, reduce nervous tension or stimulate the mind to improve memory and concentration.  Blends containing oils such as peppermint or eucalyptus can be inhaled to help combat colds.  For making skin care preparations, aromatherapy carrier oils are used for blending a few drops of pure essential oils, to make them safe to apply to the body.  Massage oils and face creams are blended in this way.

Aromatherapy bath products can be made up from blends of certain aromatic oils, providing they don't cause irritation.  A basic essential oils recipe involves adding two drops of a favorite blend to one teaspoon of rock salt, to make homemade bathsalt.  Some oils that have disinfectant qualities can be blended together to use in freshening and deodorizing the home, by adding to baking soda and put in shoes or a few drops added to a Hoover bag, for example. Personal blends can be created that have a unique aroma that can be used for meditation, which won't evoke memories or emotions.
