Essential oil burners - A long-lasting aroma to fill any room!

Aromatherapy essential oil burners are devices that are used to disperse the fragrance of aromatic plant oils into the surrounding air.  Many types of aromatherapy diffusers rely on a heat source to release the aroma molecules into the atmosphere.  An oil burner uses a flame, from a tea light or small candle.  Aromatherapy oil burners usually have a ceramic or metal bowl that's designed to hold a small amount of water, to which about 6-12 drops of a pure essential oil, or blend of oils, have been added.  The bowl is then positioned above the flame, allowing the heat to evaporate the fragrant scent into the air.

With an oil burner, how powerful the aroma is depends on varying factors, such as how many drops of therapeutic essential oil were used as well as its purity.  Burning high quality essential oils in an enclosed space can have beneficial effects on the mind and body.  For example, peppermint essential oil can be refreshing, stimulating and can help relieve cold symptoms by clearing the sinuses.  Lavender oil can be burned to aid in relaxation.  Burning oils in an aromatherapy diffuser can also be an effective way to  simple freshen the air in a room.

Essential oil burners are generally inexpensive to buy, and come in a variety of designs.  Some burners look quite ornamental and can be an attractive addition to a home.  When using any kind of naked flame, whether with an aromatherapy scented candle or with a burner, care must be taken to prevent accidents.  There are some excellent stores selling a range of aromatherapy supplies and essential oils online, making it easier to buy products.  An oil burner is just one example of the many ideas for aromatherapy gifts for loved ones.
