Orange oil - A warming and uplifting fragrance!

Orange oil has a tangy citrus aroma and is used by aromatherapists to promote both physical and psychological wellness.  Orange essential oil is obtained from the peel of the fruit by distillation or expression.  Other parts of oranges are used in making other aromatherapy oils.  The leaves produce pettigrain and the flowers or blossoms make neroli.  When vaporized in aromatherapy diffusers or candles, the warming aroma of oranges is released, which can have a number of healing effects on the body and mind.

Orange oil has a number of therapeutic qualities for emotional conditions.  It is good for treating feelings of depression and general lack of energy, as well as selfishness and stubbornness.  It can help relieve stress and anxiety.  It is a useful aromatherapy air freshener, particularly for people who are sensitive to harsh chemical fresheners.  This pure essential oil is commonly used in Christmas aromatherapy blends with other soothing oils such as cinnamon, clove and ginger.  It also mixes well with a number of other aromatic oils, including lemon, patchouli, geranium and frankincense.

Orange oil also has benefits for physical complaints, including colds and flu.  It is often used in aromatherapy skin care products and shampoos.  It contains natural alpha hydroxy acids, making it good for exfoliating and removing dead skin cells, as well as encouraging new cell growth.  Orange aromatherapy oil also has antiseptic properties.  Like other pure essential oils from citrus fruits, orange oils tend to only last for six months before they go cloudy through oxidation.  Oils should be stored in glass aromatherapy bottles in a cool place away from direct light to preserve their theraputic qualities.
