The uses for tea tree oil as a natural remedy are many and varied.  This pure essential oil has a strong medicinal aroma and when inhaled it can have a number of healing benefits for the body.  It is a powerful natural antiseptic and is used by many people to stimulate the immune system to ward off colds and flu.  Unlike other aromatherapy essential oils, tea tree can be used neat on the skin without being diluted in a carrier oil.  Used in this way it can be beneficial for treating burns, cuts, and stings.  This therapeutic essential oil is also good for pimples, warts and blackheads.

There are lots of uses for tea tree oil when it's inhaled, either through steam inhalation or when it's vaporized in an oil burner or other type of diffuser.  Tea tree has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.  It can be effective for easing the symptoms of coughs, asthma, throat and sinus infections, as well as fevers and catarrh.  As tea tree essential oil is antifungal, it is commonly used to treat athlete's foot.  Other uses include treating dandruff, herpes, ringworm and verrucae.

Uses for tea tree oil in the bath include to soothe the pain of uro-genital infections such as cystitis, pruritis and urethritis.  Diluted and used as a moutwash, as long as it is not swallowed, tea tree can help combat bad breath, mouth ulcers and swollen or bleeding gums.  This aromatherapy oil is an invaluable part of a natural first aid kit.  It can also be used as a disinfectant.  For example, for washable nappies or diluted on a cloth to clean household surfaces.  A great multipurpose plant essence!
